WHY DO YOU LIKE THE SHOW?

  • You immediately become a BFF
  • I listen when I'm getting ready in the morning to do some learning
  • It's great to take those little bits of information with you throughout the day
  • I love your voice! You're so warm + friendly

DO YOU FEEL A MORE INTIMATE CONNECTION WITH PODCASTS?

  • It feels like a conversation
  • It's an intimate connection
  • A video is in the background, a podcast in your ear makes you more focused
  • There's a community aspect to it
"You're listening on a different level, it's like they're talking right to you." -Kelly

DO PODCASTS HELP YOU FEEL LESS ISOLATED?

  • Yes! It inspires you to take action

  • It can be very isolating to work from home + webinars tend to be more one-sided

  • You get a more intimate level because it's deeper + more personal

  • You're providing useful, actionable + helpful information so I have to catch new episodes!

"I gotta catch it! I gotta learn something!" - Debbie

WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE EPISODE?

  • Family Circle {Episode 44} - I was blown away! Your parents are so insightful + imparted so much wisdom. It's no surprise that you are who you are! Everything really resonated with me. When your Dad was talking about how we become our thoughts - wow. I knew I needed to hear it. ---Kelly

If you're not listening, you've got to listen! I hadn't listened to any podcasts, but now I can't stop! What resonated with me the most is when you talked about Joe Dispenza. I just read that book + am doing the meditations, so when your Dad said that your thoughts are constantly broadcasting, that really hit home. ---Nancy

  • Devani Freeman {Episode 43} - It was the timing of it. I'm getting ready to do my first challenge, so I took lots of notes! It was such great information! Loved that episode so helpful. ---Debbie
  • Adrienne Dorison {Episode 13} - I'm a story person - and there were so many stories in that! They were all based on the concept of giving back + how that can really change who you are. When I heard it, I thought "YES, people need to hear this!". Having a bigger goal or purpose than yourself brings so much more into your life. In your story, I could literally feel that same defeat you felt. That moment taught you something which teaches all of us through your show. ---Laysa
  • Creating Your First Freebie {Episode 36} - I heard it exactly at the time that I needed to hear it! When you're ready, the teacher will come. I was totally overwhelmed, but you talked about the systems to be able to move forward. I loved when you said, "do what you need to do to move your business forward". It's something I keep listening to so I can really implement it. ---Maureen
  • Jen Casey {Episode 041} - Structuring a LIVE video brought on so much anxiety for me. It was exactly what I needed + gave me confidence. I love that you do the podcasts + showcase all of these different talents. It's so nice to see them + also watch them on video. ---Jessica

046 | EMILY ANN PETERSON | How To Get Pure Gold Out Of Podcast Interviews

I'm SO excited to introduce you to my friend, Emily Ann Peterson, host of the BareNaked Bravery Podcast! Emily Ann is a nomadic singer/songwriter who started her podcast wanting to dig into what truly defines bravery - whether they know it or not!

{http://emilyannpeterson.com/}

We're digging deep into what exactly makes an absolutely show-stopping interview - so that your guest LOVES being on your show {so they want to come back!} + your audience can't stop listening.

Let's dive in!

HAVE I BEEN THROUGH TOO MUCH HARDSHIP TO TRY AGAIN?

  • We see someone who IS being brave, but they have no idea or are terrified of it.
  • Usually, you can see your own bravery when you've broken through the hardship.
  • I consider it sacred when people share or put themselves out there with me. That is a sacred space.
  • Make the choice to keep going.
  • We are always managing expectations of the people around us.
  • Owning up to your own insecurities can give you the courage to dig deeper in your interviews.
  • If you're putting yourself out there + exchanging money, beware the tie to your value!

"You can surprise yourself with your own bravery if you're not aware you've been building it over time." -Emily

I FEEL LIKE I HAVE A MESSAGE, BUT I FEEL A BLOCK ON ACTUALLY STARTING A SHOW:

  • Ignore the stress + pressure of being 'new + noteworthy'.
  • A podcast is an audio blog.
  • The fruit is at the end of the harvest.
  • You have to be very consistent at an expected amount of time.
  • It's more important that you're consistent than your launch being 'successful'.
  • Go + launch -- it's okay to launch with just 1 episode!
  • Think of it like 100 tiny micro-launches!
  • Remember, you never know who's listening

"You have to be in it for a committed amount of time before you start seeing results." -Emily

HOW DO YOU MAKE YOUR SHOW IMPACTFUL?

  • At the end of every interview, I ask: "Who do you think I should interview next?" - that has brought me such incredible guests!
  • RESONATE BRAVERY: An outsider thinks someone is brave + therefore is inspired to be brave in their own circumstances.
  • Set your intention that there is one person out there that is going to get hope, inspiration or motivation from your episode.
  • I love to imagine a guest in the room with me + my interviewee...having that third person present makes it more intimate for my listeners.

"I hold my content calendar with an open hand." -Emily

HOW DOES HAVING A PODCAST EFFECT YOUR BUSINESS?

  • If you approach the right people for your show, they will say yes!

  • An added benefit of having a podcast is the added exposure.

  • It connects you with fellow entrepreneurs + grows your audience.

  • There's an extra level of networking I didn't expect!

  • Launching a fb group for listeners blew me out of the water!

044 | FAMILY CIRCLE | BECOMING A POWERFUL THOUGHT LEADER

Today, we're bringing you another family circle episode! It's been awhile, but I was so happy to be able to hop on the show with my parents to kick of Podcasting Month!

We wanted to bring you to the core, heart-centered truth of what it takes to become a thought leader in your industry. It doesn't happen overnight, + you can run the risk of total burnout if you don't put in the necessary self-work.

So, buckle up, enjoy the show + I hope you feel inspired!!

HOW TO START ON THE PATH:

    • Face your wounds
    • Look at your current thoughts throughout the day
    • Take control of your thoughts
    • Become more present - notice when you're drifting
    • Those distracting voices are based on memories
    • Choosing to lay down the victim + put on your 'big girl pants'
    • Deciding you can do this, that you're accountable for your healing + take daily action steps to move forward
    • Every little thing {trainings, skills, jobs, industries} will come together in your entrepreneurship

"No matter where you are, those dark places are engineered to build the strength to start clearing the past junk + getting back to the original mission you were meant to change the world with" -Michelle

    WHAT DEFINES A LEADER:

    • You have to use your frontal lobe {creative space} to create your mission + manifest where your future is headed
    • Watch what you're broadcasting with your thoughts
    • Make sure they're not conflicting with the subconscious mind {inherently feeling like you're a failure/self-doubt}
    • To become a leader, you have to "shed the sheep"
    "Stop identifying with your weaknesses."

    INVEST IN YOURSELF:

    • 10-20 minutes of self-work per day
    • 10-20 minutes of self-care per day
    • Read "Broken Children, Grown Up Pain" by Paul Hegstrom
    • Read "Breaking The Habit of Being Yourself" by Joe Dispenza
    • Take Michelle's Life Reboot Course {$67} to prepare your mind/body/spirit:
    • What you project is brought back to you
    • Positive creation mode vs. negative victim cycle
    "We are what we think."

    YOUR BIG WHY:

    • How you will actually change our world for the better with your revenue

    • How your personality effects your personal reality
